Mr Ng to remain on the Board as Director; Mr Lim to assume CEO role from 1 January 2027 following a planned succession.

Singapore, 26 October 2026 – YTL PowerSeraya today announced that Mr Lim Han Kwang will be appointed Chief Executive Officer of YTL PowerSeraya with effect from 1 January 2027, succeeding Mr John Ng, who will continue to serve the Group as a Director on the Board of YTL PowerSeraya.

The appointment marks a well-planned leadership transition for one of Singapore’s leading integrated energy companies, ensuring continuity of strategy, stewardship and operational excellence as YTL PowerSeraya advances its next phase of growth and supports Singapore’s energy transition.

As Director, Mr Ng will continue to provide his professional experience, industry knowledge and strategic counsel to the Board, contributing to YTL PowerSeraya’s long-term approaches, direction and growth.

A Legacy of Leadership, Service and Sector Stewardship

Mr Ng was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the YTL PowerSeraya Group in January 2019, returning to an organisation he had helped shape across several defining chapters. Prior to this appointment, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Singapore LNG Corporation, bringing with him more than four decades of commercial and operational experience across Singapore’s energy sector.

His association with YTL PowerSeraya began in the company’s earlier PUB days, where he was part of its evolution into today’s YTL PowerSeraya. Over the years, he held numerous leadership positions within the organisation and was appointed CEO from 2009 to 2013 before later returning to helm the integrated energy company once again.

Across his eight years of leadership as CEO, Mr Ng led YTL PowerSeraya through a period of exceptional performance despite challenging times, such as the Russian-Ukraine war in 2022, and the Middle East conflict in early 2026. During his tenure, the Group achieved extraordinary profitability, including YTL PowerSeraya’s top three most profitable financial years ever.

He also steered one of the Group’s most significant asset breakthrough: the acquisition of the 396 MW Tuaspring Power Station in June 2022 through its wholly owned subsidiary, Taser Power Pte Ltd. The facility was subsequently renamed the Taser Power Plant, strengthening YTL PowerSeraya’s generation portfolio and operating capabilities in Singapore.

Under Mr Ng’s stewardship, YTL PowerSeraya also secured the first Request for Proposal award under the Energy Market Authority’s Centralised Process to develop a 600 MW Hydrogen-Ready Combined Cycle Gas Turbine at its Pulau Seraya Power Station site. Estimated at S$800 million and targeted for completion by end 2027, the project represents a major step in supporting Singapore’s energy security and net zero ambitions.

In addition to these significant achievements, Mr Ng has played an instrumental role in advancing workers’ wages, welfare, and work prospects, in close collaboration with the Union of Power and Gas Employees. In recognition of this commitment, YTL PowerSeraya was conferred the Plaque of Commendation (Gold) at the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) May Day Awards 2023 under the Oil, Petrochemical, Energy and Chemical Cluster. This was followed by Mr Ng’s conferment with the prestigious Meritorious Service Award at the NTUC May Day Awards 2024 in his capacity as CEO of YTL PowerSeraya.

Beyond his accomplishments at YTL PowerSeraya, Mr Ng has contributed meaningfully to Singapore’s national agenda through his service as Director of the Employment and Employability Institute, and in former roles including Board Member of the Energy Studies Institute, Vice-President of the Singapore National Employers Federation Board, Chairman of the Workplace Safety and Health Council, Board Member of PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency and Board Member of Central Provident Fund.

In recognition of his significant public service contributions, Mr Ng was awarded the Public Service Medal (Pingat Bakti Masyarakat), at the National Day Awards 2019 under the Ministry of Manpower for his role as then-Chairman of the Workplace Safety and Health Council. He was also conferred The Public Service Star at the National Day Awards 2025 under the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment for his role as Former Board Member of PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency.

A Planned Succession for the Group’s Next Phase

The succession of Mr Lim to the role of CEO follows a deliberate transition process that began in 2024, when he was promoted to Deputy CEO of YTL PowerSeraya while continuing in his role as CEO of Geneco.

Mr Lim brings more than 23 years of commercial and regulatory experience across Singapore’s electricity and gas markets, spanning policymaking, performance management, power generation, retail, and transmission and distribution. His career has included leadership and industry roles across established organisations including the Energy Market Authority, Singapore Power and Sembcorp Industries.

He rejoined YTL PowerSeraya in July 2020 as Group Head of Strategy and Risk Management, before being appointed CEO of Geneco in 2022. Under his leadership, Geneco has grown to become Singapore’s No.1 Residential Electricity Retailer, strengthening its position as the Group’s retail arm not just in residential, but also deepening its engagement with Commercial & Industrial customers across Singapore.

Outside of YTL PowerSeraya, Mr Lim also serves as a Board Member of the Energy Studies Institute.

With his appointment as CEO of YTL PowerSeraya, he will oversee the Group’s three subsidiaries: Geneco, its retail arm; PetroSeraya, its tank management arm, and Taser Power, which operates the Taser Power Plant.

Tan Sri (Sir) Francis Yeoh Sock Ping, Chairman of YTL PowerSeraya and Executive Chairman of YTL Power International Berhad, said: “On behalf of the Board, I would like to express our deepest appreciation to John for his outstanding leadership and distinguished service to YTL PowerSeraya. John’s contributions go far beyond financial performance, significant as those achievements have been. He has brought judgement, conviction and an unwavering sense of duty to every chapter of the company’s growth, from strengthening our generation portfolio to advancing future-ready investments that support Singapore’s energy transition. His career stands as an example of leadership grounded in experience, service and purpose.

As a man of faith, John brings to his leadership a profound understanding of stewardship: that our talents, responsibilities and opportunities are gifts from God, entrusted to us to serve others faithfully. His faith finds expression in his humility, his care for people and his commitment to doing what is right. These qualities have made him not only a respected leader, but also a trusted colleague and dear friend.

On a personal note, I thank our beloved Lord Jesus for the blessing of working alongside John. We are deeply grateful for all that he has given to the company and to the people whose lives he has touched. We pray that this next chapter will bring him and his family renewed joy, good health and the peace of God.

We are grateful that he will continue to guide YTL PowerSeraya as a Director on the Board, allowing us to continue benefiting from his wisdom, experience and steadfast commitment.”

He added: “We are equally pleased to welcome Han Kwang as CEO from 1 January 2027. His deep understanding of Singapore’s energy landscape, strong regulatory and commercial experience, and proven leadership at Geneco position him well to lead YTL PowerSeraya into its next phase. This succession reflects our commitment to continuity, disciplined execution and long-term value creation for our stakeholders.

Han Kwang takes on this responsibility with our full confidence and support. We look forward to seeing him build on the strong foundations John has helped establish, working closely with our Board and colleagues to serve our customers, strengthen Singapore’s energy resilience and lead the company forward with integrity and purpose.”

Mr John Ng said: “It has been a privilege to lead YTL PowerSeraya and to serve alongside colleagues who are as committed about the company, our customers and Singapore’s energy future. My journey with the organisation has spanned many important moments, from its earlier PUB days to the YTL PowerSeraya of today. I am proud of what we have achieved together, particularly in strengthening the Group’s performance, expanding our generation capabilities and investing in infrastructure that will support a more secure and sustainable energy future. I look forward to continuing to contribute to the Group as a Director and to supporting Han Kwang and the leadership team through this transition.”

Mr Lim Han Kwang said: “I am honoured to be entrusted with the responsibility of leading YTL PowerSeraya into its next chapter. John has built a remarkable legacy defined by resilience, strategic clarity and service to the industry, and I am grateful for his mentorship and continued guidance on the Board. As we move forward, my focus will be on building on the strong foundation established by John and the team, while advancing YTL PowerSeraya’s role as a trusted integrated energy company that supports Singapore’s evolving energy needs, strengthens operational excellence and contributes meaningfully to the nation’s net zero journey.”
